Class Requirements

Attendance

Student must attend a minimum of 36 classes AND 18 weeks to be eligible for blue belt testing

Student Qualities

Student must show an excellent attitude and always demonstrate a willingness to learn. In addition, student is required to strive to uphold the standards of honesty, modesty, courtesy, integrity, respect, perseverance, courage, and indomitable spirit.

Past Requirements

Students must be able to demonstrate all kicking and hand techniques, stances, combinations, self defense concepts and principles, and answer all questions from all previous belt requirements.

Bag Work

Demonstrate continuous combinations for at least 3 x two minute rounds on the stand-alone heavy bag.
with a 30 second break between rounds.10 push ups during break.

Self Defense Concepts & Principles

Parry with Shuffle Step

Student must understand and be able to demonstrate knowledge of a parry and shuffle step from both sides.
Student must be able to execute a parry with a shuffle step to attacker’s blind-side and
show proper distance and execute kicking counter
show proper distance and execute punching counter
show proper distance and execute an “in close” counter

Questions:

Why is it important to also shuffle step out when you parry?
Why is it important to parry when you shuffle step?
Why is it important to understand the different countering distances?
What should you do with your back hand when you execute the parry and shuffle step concept?
What types of attacks would you react to with a parry and shuffle step? Give examples
